On the evening of April 1 (local time), U.S. President Trump delivered a speech at the White House in which he unilaterally declared a “swift, decisive, and overwhelming victory” in the conflict with Iran, asserting that all military objectives were on track to be achieved within a “very short period.” He even went so far as to encourage other nations to head to the Strait of Hormuz to “seize the oil.”
This “victory declaration”—which lasted nearly 20 minutes—failed to instill market confidence or bring about a de-escalation of tensions; instead, it triggered a chain reaction. International financial markets experienced significant volatility, external skepticism intensified, and the exchange of missile strikes between Iran and Israel showed no signs of abating.
