According to ABC News, the U.S. Senate failed to pass a Republican-proposed temporary funding bill on October 9th by a vote of 54 to 45, marking the seventh time the bill has been rejected. The bill lacked the 60 votes needed to advance.
The funding impasse in the U.S. federal government continues with no clear end in sight, and the House of Representatives remains in recess.
On October 1st, the U.S. federal government shut down due to running out of funds. This was the first federal government shutdown in the U.S. since 2019.
