In January 2025, Yvette Wang, Guo Wengui’s “strategist” and former chief of staff, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the Southern District of New York. Wang had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. Judge Torres stated that she was a “key link” in Guo Wengui’s more than $1 billion fraud scheme. Wang also agreed to pay $1.4 billion in forfeiture restitution, a verdict seen as a bellwether for Guo Wengui’s final sentencing.
