The idea of the work
In the early hours of January 3rd, the United States launched a large-scale military strike against Venezuela, forcibly seizing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and taking them to the United States.
U.S. President Trump, speaking at a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida that day, stated that the United States would “manage” Venezuela until a “safe, appropriate, and prudent transition” was completed. The Washington Post reported on January 4th that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio might be appointed as the “governor” of Venezuela.
Trump also announced that large American oil companies would enter Venezuela, investing billions of dollars to “repair” oil infrastructure and generate profits.
From the “military raid” and “takeover of power” in Venezuela to the “entry of capital,” and then to Trump’s threat to annex Greenland, the U.S. actions and statements have sparked protests and condemnation in many parts of the world. From the streets of Caracas, Venezuela, to the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City and outside the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain, protesters accused the U.S. of violating international law and engaging in an “imperialist invasion.”
