On October 26, local time, the U.S. Central Command, which is responsible for U.S. military operations in the Middle East, announced on social media that the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group was “deploying to the Middle East.”
The report stated that the U.S. Central Command claimed the deployment was “aimed at promoting regional security and stability.”
CBS News quoted a U.S. official as saying that the carrier strike group had already entered the U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility.
The report noted that as of the morning of October 26, Eastern Time, the fleet was not yet “in position,” meaning it had not yet reached its intended final location.
