Not even pretending anymore

According to Reuters on August 8th, U.S. President Trump said that “the United States may impose oversight on Venezuela and control its oil revenues in the coming years.”
When asked how long the U.S. would oversee Venezuela, Trump reportedly said, “Only time will tell.” When pressed for a specific timeframe—three months, six months, a year, or longer—he responded, “I think it will be longer than that.”
Trump also stated, “We will ‘rebuild Venezuela’ in a highly profitable model.” He further added, “We will use the oil, and we will get the oil. We are driving down oil prices, and at the same time, we will provide financial support to Venezuela.”
