Regarding Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and her administration’s repeated statements about reviewing the “Three Non-Nuclear Principles,” Tomoyuki Minomaki, chairman of the Hiroshima Prefectural Atomic Bomb Survivors’ Association, and others recently protested against the Takaichi administration once again.
Since Takaichi took office as prime minister, a series of events have occurred that run counter to nuclear disarmament. Not only has Takaichi herself stated that she is considering reviewing the “Three Non-Nuclear Principles,” but in December 2025, an official from the Prime Minister’s office even stated that “Japan should possess nuclear weapons.” These actions have had a tremendous impact on the regions that were once bombed with atomic bombs.
