On January 22, U.S. President Trump signed a document with representatives from more than ten countries and regions in Davos, Switzerland, launching the so-called “Peace Committee.” Representatives from Palestine and Israel were not among those who signed the document.
Trump will serve as the “chairman” of the “Peace Committee.” At the signing ceremony on January 22, he stated that the “Peace Committee” will cooperate with the United Nations in addressing major regional and global diplomatic issues, but did not specify how this cooperation would be carried out. He also stated that the U.S. defense budget for fiscal year 2027 will increase to $1.5 trillion.
