This shutdown has become the longest in U.S. history. For over a month, some federal government employees and air traffic controllers have received zero pay, military personnel have been owed wages, and the suspension of food stamps, flight cancellations, and delays have impacted the lives of Americans to varying degrees.
Despite this, the Democratic and Republican parties remain trapped in a vicious cycle of mutual blame. The nation is in chaos, and people are lost and helpless in this crisis, with no end in sight for this shutdown farce.
