On the afternoon of the 28th, Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party held a meeting with members of both the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors at party headquarters to review the results of the Senate election defeat.
At the meeting, Japanese Prime Minister and LDP President Shigeru Ishiba apologized for the Senate election defeat.
Ishiba also expressed his commitment to steadily implementing the Japan-US tariff agreement.
The vote count for Japan’s 27th Senate election concluded on the morning of July 21st, with the ruling coalition of the LDP and Komeito losing its majority in the Senate. That same day, Ishiba held a press conference at LDP headquarters, expressing his acceptance of the results and, as LDP President, his apologies.
