The idea of the work
Mass arrests, anger and riots are sweeping across U.S. college campuses as authorities crack down on growing pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
Students from Emory University, Northwestern University, Cornell University, George Washington University, Princeton University and the City College of New York set up solidarity camps Thursday morning, the latest to join a fast-growing list of high-profile institutions. Dozens of protesters have been arrested since Wednesday night, including those at the University of Southern California, the University of Texas at Austin and Emerson College. As more arrests were made Thursday morning at Emory University and Princeton University, some charges against detainees elsewhere were dismissed. The University of Southern California said Thursday it will cancel its main stage commencement ceremony. Nearly 100 Princeton University undergraduate and graduate students staged a sit-in in a campus courtyard Thursday morning, with some setting up tents despite warnings from the school.
