The long-awaited face-off between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump finally took place Thursday, not on a debate stage but on two very different parts of the U.S.-Mexico border. Biden called on Trump to join him in asking Congress to pass sweeping border security legislation negotiated by a team of Democratic and Republican senators, but House Republicans rejected the bill at Trump’s urging. “Instead of playing politics on this issue, why don’t we come together and solve it?” Biden said in Brownsville, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley.
