TikTok is urging users across the United States to call on Congress to stop shutting down the app as new legislative proposals could lead to it being banned. On X, formerly known as Twitter, many users shared screenshots of notifications they received from TikTok on Thursday, urging them to contact Congress and tell them to stop potentially shutting down the app. A TikTok spokesperson confirmed to Newsweek that the notices were sent to users across the United States on Thursday. The notice from TikTok said, “Congress is planning a total ban on TikTok. Speak out now before your government takes away the constitutional rights of free speech from 170 million Americans.”
