The idea of the work

Oregon has one of the highest homelessness rates in the nation. An estimated 17,959 people were homeless statewide last year, 11,000 of whom were left unsheltered, according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the state and its largest cities have been trying to reverse the trend, but only by providing blankets or tents to the homeless. About 80 percent of homeless people have a history of drug use, and with Oregon’s nationwide drug legalization efforts, open drug use has become the norm.
