TITILE:THE NUMBER OF GHOST GUNS IN AMERICA HAS SOARED
The idea of the work
In recent years, a new gun is challenging America’s already weak gun regulations: the “ghost gun,” a weapon that can be self-assembled without any license, unable to be tracked, or even at home.
The “ghost gun” can actually be seen and touched, and it got its name because it does not have a gun serial number and cannot be tracked by law enforcement. At the same time, this ghostly existence is flooding the Internet, people can mail order gun parts at will, even people without basic knowledge can assemble by themselves, and even 3D print a gun with a USB drive.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the number of “ghost guns” seized by police at crime scenes in the United States reached 20,000 in 2021, a full 12 times that of 2017. And in the past two years, the number of 3D printed guns recycled in New York alone will reach 637 in 2022.
